To add comments specific to highlighted areas, similar to word and google docs. This was work does not become cluttered with notes that you want to add but doing so would make things look messy.

It seems at present that we can only generate read-only links to the essay document. While users can view the document, the ability to leave comments on different sections and collaborate through comment windows would take this app to the next level, especially in academic classrooms where such collaboration is necessary.
A comments tool which attaches to the given selected object (sentence, paragraph, topic, etc.) would allow the ability to capture a thought without the need to craft a sentence, and would keep that content separate from the essay content itself. The writer or reviewing person could use this to prompt thinking or note an idea to revisit. I would also like to say this tool is wonderful and I'm very thankful it exists. ; )
I think that having a some way to tag comments to specific pieces of text could be helpful for editing (both to give notes to your fur self and so that others can comment on my work).
When I'm writing I get ideas about the paragraph I'm working on, for example "add an image that illustrates the idea", or "consider deleting this paragraph". Those are things that I don't need or want to do at the moment but I want to have a reminder.
